Sad boy, Bye cat… RIP – Acrostic made up of Haikus

I decided to try to combine two forms of writing. Acrostic and Haiku. Below is my attempt. The acrostic part doesn’t quite flow as much as I’d like but it still seems to work.

Sad boy, Bye cat… RIP

Solemn and depressed
A boy buries his first pet
Death came too early

Buried in the yard
Over near the fence corner
Young, both young, it’s hard

Big mound of fresh dirt
Yellow daisies laid on top
Eyes full of big tears

Can’t believe he’s gone
Alive, so alive was he
Thanks for the time shared

Rest in your new home
I’ll miss your gentle spirit
Perhaps we’ll meet again

‘Death came to early’… insert woman for boy…and you’ve described my feelings perfectly … I have lost my companion of 13 years… and I cry…. as I am now…it’s such a strange feeling, her not being anywhere in sight, just a memory. Perhaps we will meet again, I do hope so… x

  2. Pen,
Thank you for looking around a bit and leaving comments. I’m sorry for your loss. They do become part of the family for many of us and their passing takes a toll and leaves a void.

    Strength and peace to you,

    Stephen
