A stop to the clocks scream
Evening time and all is well
If I shut my mind to the clocks
Tomorrow brings another day
To ponder on work and pay
And the various goings on
News from the world out there
Some to encourage some to scare
Another birth
Upping the count of nephew or niece
The passing of a friend or loved one
But for tonight all is well
The kids are tucked in
And I’ll head to bed soon
Another sip or two of Irish Cream
A day-dream
A stop to the clocks scream
The bird in the carport
Nest tucked into the corner post beams
Snuggles in ‘til morning
No man-made clock to force the time
Only the morning sun and a hunger inside
A chirp or two to start the day
And it’s off to find food
The sun has set
And that’s all the clue the flowers need
They gently fold up
And bow out for the night’s rest
No tick-tock timer telling them when
Just the known course of nature
Guiding their dance
The moon is out in full force tonight
Staring down over the town
Guiding vision of the night owl
Swooping in silently on its prey
I’ve pushed the clocks
to a silent scream
I’ve made tonight fit my timeline
Bent the clocks to my need
To feed my desire to relax and write
But they are starting to make sound again
Finding their voices and letting me know
So I will take the final act to bed
Stop the clocks in my head
Until I’m awakened in the morning
With their beeping sound
Peace and goodnight,
Stephen
Very good, and very true.
