A scent drifts through – Poem

A poem written for those that have lost loves, whether family, friend or lover. Little things can be trigger points. I’m sorry for your loss and pain and hope you find peace and comfort.

A scent drifts through

A scent drifts through on the breeze
It’s you.
Are you there?
Dancing among the trees?
But no,
That was years ago,
In winter
When your feet made tracks in the snow.
Another life
And yet
So real.
Or spring,
When you danced among the green.
I see a flower,
And you, smile back at me.
Feel the rain,
And your touch.
Yet it’s been so long
And you’re gone.
But so real,
In the scent that drifts through
As the rain falls
On the ground
Where you lie.
