Ok, I was just about to head to bed when I came across another poem that grabbed me and shook out a response. This response poem was inspired by the poem nihiless at shrinksarentcheap. I encourage you to go read the other poem first.
nihiless (Response Poem)
You do not fall in love
As best as I can tell
Fate is not for you to tempt
My passionate moans
To you, unknown
Blending with others
You’ve taken on this
Rolling trail of dusty hills
Your wretched bleak desire
Eked out
In these awkward gas station restrooms.
And you,
Body reacting to poor advances
Mentally dancing through minefields of emotion
While I,
Hope in vain for a future with answers.
You, who snuffs out hope
Like a cigarette flicked to a mud puddle
With purpose, vengeance even.
And yet,
How can such passion
Find poetry in heart
If no heart exists
But for
gods
and
the
dead.

Nice work, Stephen! Love the cigarette flicked in a mud puddle image. That’s an original depiction of a feeling I know.
By the way, this theme looks eerily familiar. 😉
David,
Thanks! Always nice to get comments from you. And yes… though I looked around a bit, I had to go with the good theme I’d seen… thanks 😀
PS Thanks again for the catching the oops…
Peace,
Stephen
What oops. 😉 shhh I got your back. tee hee, and thanks. I’ve been out of the blogasphere for a few weeks. Lots of catching up to do.
Me too… but not tonight… I really must head to bed now.

Rest well, friend.
gorgeous response. I am honored. the answer to your question is, you are right.
Thank you for the inspiration. I’m always a little nervous the first time I respond to someone’s poetry. I always hope it is taken as a compliment as the poem I read brought out a poetic response. I look forward to reading more on your blog.
Peace,
Stephen
I’m so glad to see more posts from you. This is a treasure of back-talk. I’ve gone and followed shrinksarentcheap as well. Good referral. Great poem. Sigh.
Alice,
Thanks for the continued support and encouragement! If you want to go on a romp through response poems, you can do a search for “response” in my search box and the majority of them should be found. I try to remember to put (response poem) in the title and also “response” of some sort in the tags.
Peace,
Stephen
Stephen, I’ve caught the poetry bug and read all I can in my spare moments. Keep writing. I need my thoughts to be provoked and entertained. 😉 Alice
Alice,
Poetry is a hard bug to shake… I’d recommend not even trying. It’ll bury itself deep inside and hunker down good. It’s best just to try and feed it what it needs. Hopefully I’ll provoke and entertain soon but for now I’m off to bed.
G’nite
Stephen
this like a ladder~wonderful !
Deborah,
Always good to see you around here. Thanks, I hope it can be one rung of a ladder to help someone out of such a situation. As always, I appreciate your feedback.
Peace,
Stephen
