Worn out – Poem – NaPoWriMo2013

Worn out

Worn out
Fatigue pulls on my sagging eyelids
Dimming the light
I swear he has little suction devices
Just like the dentist use
Only he uses them to suck the fluid
Right out of my sockets
Leaving eyeballs to roll around
Like bearings full of dirt

Tired
Drool attempting to work its way
Out the small crack
On the right side of my mouth
I reach to wipe away the river
Dried out, longing hands
Ready to absorb any moisture
Sadden to find but a drop

Beat
An old shoe, sole worn through
Side stepping a puddle
Keeping the foot dry
But not tonight
Any moisture
Even a wet sock
Just might be what’s needed

  1. Alice Keys says:

You poor thing. I hope you are rested by now. Don’t drive in that condition.
