The Beauty of trees - Stephen Kellogg

Poetry, Ponderings, Prose, Photos and Pounding out the Pathways!

I’ve created this blog as a place to post some of my works. I, like most new bloggers, hope to post somewhat frequently … but we’ll see.

Please read and enjoy. Not all of what you read here will be happy or sad etc. but I trust my writings, photos etc will encourage, touch, inspire or just make you think….

I really appreciate feedback!!

Thanks and enjoy

Peace!

Stephen Kellogg

Glad you’re enjoying it. I hope to continue putting out stuff that people enjoy reading whether it makes them feel better, puts a smile on their face, gives them something to stop and think about, something to relate to, inspires them etc.

Thanks again for stopping by and for the encouraging comments.

    Peace,

OK – I have meant to mention this many times – but always forgot cause i was amused with other things on your site – but the alliteration in your title is very cool !!!! (Poetry, Ponderings, Prose, Photos & Pounding out the Pathways) I love it – Just thought i would tell you that before i forget again LOL

  4. Mel,
thanks! That was fun to figure out. FYI, that picture of the trees at the top of the page was also one of my cell phone photos.
I hope at some point to get more “prose” up but I haven’t written any recently and I can’t find some of the stuff I wrote in college that I want to post 😦 . I wish I had hours in the day to devote to writing. I even started a book a while back with main concept and a tiny bit of writing but haven’t been able to get back to it.

Maybe one day all the chaos will settle down and I’ll get back to it.
Anyway, thanks for commenting on the alliteration.

    Peace,

    Stephen

I bet that was fun to figure out – I love to use it in my college papers (just to mess my teachers up a bit LOL) I know how you feel – there are some days all I want to do it write and I have so much else to get done 😦 It can suck !!!

Hey Stephen i just wanted to drop you a line – see how you have been !! I have been crazy busy!! I finally got my book published and it is up for sale on amazon – whoohoo!! But, I also am working on my next book of poetry about my trip across the USA and I am inspired by your use of Acrostic poems – I am thinking of using them for each section of my book – the names of the states ect…. I just wanted to let you know that you have opened up a whole new form of poetry for me and i wanted to say think-you for that !! I hope you are well.
    Mel

    • Mel,
Well that’s just AWESOME on the book.. Guess I’m a bit late on the congrats… ok, common, where’s the link to the book? I too have been crazy busy. So much so that I haven’t responded to comments, congratulated you or posted anything since January… Crazy!!! I’ve been inspired by your photos to include being inspired to write poetry about them so I appreciate being able to return the inspiration. So… how’s the book about the move… the Unbelievably Scenic Adventure” book coming along? Hope you and hubby are settling into the new place. Congrats on the book, that’s encouraging and inspiring as well.
I’m working to make time to read (looking forward to catching up) and write more… hopefully I’ll post another poem in the next couple of days.

      Thanks again!
      Peace,

      Stephen

We are settling in quite nicely here and I have found work as a photographer and am still looking into other jobs in the meantime! It is so funny that you wrote to me today because I just got the second book up for sale too LOL!!!! Down The Dash is available at Amazon and the link is on my blog under the section called “My Published Work”. I have my new book called Wandering Words listed there as well – but it is not on Amazon yet – it takes 5-7 days for them to get it posted up there! But other than that things are going great !!! I have missed chatting with you!!! Thanks again for all the support it really does mean a lot to me !!! Have a great night – Melanie

    is this an oil panting

    • No, this is a photo taken with my cell phone. It was dusk and I was on a walk with my kids. Near the park where we were walking there are a bunch of big, beautiful trees and I was struck by the beauty of the tops of them against the sky light. The perspective was standing near the bottom of the trees looking up.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you continue to visit.

      Peace,

      Stephen

I just took a tour of your site. It is very interesting to learn more about you and your thoughts. You are deeper than I thought. Let me encourge you to keep it up. You will be suprised were it will take you. Follow your dreams!

  15. Jamie Dedes says:

Peace, Stephen. This is a good intro. Thank you!

    • Jamie,
Thanks for stopping by and looking through my collection of words. There are several poems that were inspired by our friend Leslie White. If you get a chance, take a look. Just click the poetry tag under categories and start scrolling until you see a painting. You’ll have to hit “previous entries” at the bottom as I think there are 6 or 7 of them buried in previous entries.
      Thanks again for the encouragement!

      Peace,

      Stephen

  16. Hi Stephen,

Thought I’d wonder across and introduce myself. Like you, I’m attempting to keep up with Napowrimo. Some are so dire I feel I should scrap them.

I’ll come your way again to read some more.

    Regards Talia.

    • Talia,
Thanks for wondering through my blog. Hopefully you’ll find some poems etc here that you enjoy. Just keep pushing out the poetry for NaPoWriMo, you can always go back and edit them later 😀
Or, you can write a new one for the day and then go review the priors day poem.
Congrats on doing NaPoWriMo… If you want another challenge, do NaNoWriMo when November the year.

      Peace,

      Stephen

      • That one would slaughter me for sure Stephen, and if you are aspiring to do this you are made of sterner stuff then I am.

        Best wishes Talia.

      • Talia,
🙂 … I actually did it last November and managed to get 65K+ words during November (My goal was 60K so I was happy with the results). I still have a good bit of work to do (both finishing the story and editing) but it’s my first book so it’s very exciting.

        Peace,

        Stephen

      • Congratulations to you. Who knows as it’s my finally year at Bathspa I might attempt to commence and complete my short story anthology in November.

If you need an editor, let me know. 😉

    Hi there Stephen!

I just finished one of the assignments that we’ve chit-chat about (is it us? err forgot ;):

    Acrostic for a Busy Day

feel free to criticize 😉 -jymiely

  18. Your photo reminds me of Georgia O’Keeffe’s painting, “The Lawrence Tree.” I’ve enjoyed reading over your fine poetry and I’m looking forward to exploring some more. . . .

    • HC,
Wow what a great comparison, thank you. I Love trees and well, nature in general. That photo was taken with an old flip phone cell phone 😀
It was taken at a park near the house and the kids and I were out on a walk just enjoying each other and the night.
Thanks for the feedback on my poetry and I look forward to your comments sprouting up around my blog.

      Peace,

      Stephen

  20. Hi Stephen.
Thanks for following my blog. I like what you have going on over here – you have a beautiful creative talent.
    Lisa

  21. Stephen I am honoured that you have started following me – as I said to Susan I’m not in the same league and have a completely different way of writing, but I treasure anyone that reads what I do and is hopefully moved in some small way by it. Thank you and now I shall have a sticky beak around yours 🙂
